Lab-on-a-chip(LOC) is a device to integrate a laboratory on a small chip where very small liquid handling devices are constructed.
LOC is a cool thing but beyond reach of most of African school lab.
JoyFab is a LOC construction system to help African teachers to demonstrate making and testing of LOC.
Let's image you are planning to challenge a science fair and you choose a topic of biotoxicity of underground water on Daphnia.
You probably need the zooplankton and a microscope.
Typical experimental setup for that is readily available on internet because it is one of best choice of science fair project.
However, actual experiment process is not so easy because of delicate nature of Daphnia handling.
They are easily stressed or demaged during handling.
So the experiment is not reproducible.
With JoyFab, you can do the job elegantly and scientifically.
In this example, let's imagine you are placing a Daphnia ( water flea) on the center reservoir and water sample on the reservoir1. You also need two control sample like Adrenaline and Acetylcholine on reservoir 1,2 respectively.

All you have to do at the beginning is to prepare a LOC design.
In this example, let's imagine you are placing a Daphnia ( water flea) on the center reservoir and water sample on the reservoir1. You also need two control sample like Adrenaline and Acetylcholine on reservoir 1,2 respectively.
Then, place the chip on a device called manifold.
The manifold is a supporting device for the LOC chip to drive micropumps by supplying pulses of compressed of air.
